On the road. Discovering who This New Man is.
The Good Bitch of the (South)Vest
Okay, let’s face it: at La Parada we like vests. And we hope and encourage a return of them to the style of the New Man, who is being made from the stir-frying of cultural trends. But as with any other appealing preference, there are exceptions to every rule. Men cannot adorn themselves with a vest for the sake of wearing a vest; it has to be part of a master plan of layering.
In some ways, this struggle reminds me of the funny element of bitchiness. Part of what we like on reality shows of all kinds, like the Housewives of Everywhere America, is how a given character jumps on a fashionista train and we love it because it goes so well with her biting personality. These Good Bitches do something special to our sense of what is hot and what is not – admit it.
Sadly, we are not likely to see a reality show on TV or even an online about the HouseMen of America. Which means that we are going to have to accept that it will take another way to find that special layering of the Good Bitches of men’s fashions and home styles.
I vote for the vest as a good starting point. It’s hard not to notice the sassy ones.
La Parada is somewhat about harnessing this kind of New Man. But there is much more to learn. As we head South and ultimately Southwest, we’re going to be very actively looking for the Good Bitches who love their vests. Any suggestion as to where to start our search?
